Sales tax revenue up in NWA cities

Springdale and Bentonville had the highest percentage increase in sales tax revenue of the large cities this month compared to the same period last year.

Sales tax revenue for Bentonville is 10.4 percent higher than September last year. Revenue for this month is $844,390 compared to $764,485 last year, an increase of $79,904.

Springdale finished a close second for September, receiving $908,976 compared to $830,681 for the same period last year, an increase of 10 percent.

Rogers continued its string of $1 million months, receiving $1,118,067 this month compared to $1,094,478 last September, an increase of $23,588 or 2.15 percent.

Fayetteville slipped less than 1 percent this month compared to the same period last year. The city received $1,465,609 compared to $1,466,886 for last September, a decrease of 0.08 percent.

Lowell and Siloam Springs sales tax revenue both soared into high double digits this month. Lowell received $327,471 compared to $229,731 last September, an increase of $97,738 or 42.5 percent

Sales tax revenue in Siloam Springs was on a downward trend much of 2013. Sales tax revenue for this month was up $21,589, an increase of 9.49 percent over the same period last year. The city received $248,874 this month compared to $227,304 last year.
