Monday, September 23, 2013

Second-round play was suspended due to darkness Sunday in the USGA Senior Amateur Championship at Wade Hampton Golf Club in Cashiers, N.C.

Torrential rains hit the area Saturday forcing the completion of the first round on Sunday. Golfers who did not finish Saturday completed 36 holes Sunday, whereas players who managed to complete their round Saturday had late tee times Sunday and were unable to complete their second round.

Bev Hargraves of Helena-West Helena had rounds of 76 and 75 Sunday to finish at 7-over which put him in a tie for 27th, while 2011 champion Louis Lee of Heber Springs struggled with rounds of 79 and 78 for 13 over which put him in a tie for 96th.

Stan Lee of Heber Springs and Ross McCaskill of Little Rock will complete their second rounds this morning before the cut is made to 64 for the start of match play which begins later Monday.
