HENDERSON STATE 44, SE OKLAHOMA STATE 35

Henderson State (3-0, 2-0 GAC) scored 20 points in the fourth quarter as it rallied from a third-quarter deficit to defeat Southeastern Oklahoma State (1-2, 1-2) in Durant, Okla.

Kevin Rodgers completed 27 of 50 passes for 384 yards and 1 touchdown with 1 interception, and Darius Davis had 8 receptions for 187 yards and 1 touchdown as the Reddies piled up 513 yards of total offense.

Ryan McDonald led Henderson State with 81 yards rushing, and Keaton Stigger - a linebacker who pulled double duty at fullback - scored 4 touchdowns on 4 carries and finished with 10 yards rushing.

Trailing 28-24 at the end of the third quarter, the Reddies cut the deficit to 28-27 on the opening play of the fourth quarter on Charles Gonsalves’ 26-yard field goal.

Then Henderson State’s defense came up big as Chris King intercepted a pass by Nick Sioson and returned it to the Reddies 46. That led to Rodgers’ only touchdown pass of the game, a 26-yarder to Davis that put Henderson on top 34-28 with 12:58 to play.

It was Davis’ 16th career touchdown catch, which tied the school record.

Henderson State’s defense held Southeastern State to three plays and out on the next series and, and the Reddies put together a five-play, 34-yard scoring drive that made it 41-28 with 10:49 left to play. Stigger capped the drive with a 2-yard run.

Stigger had two other 2-yard touchdown runs and a 4-yard touchdown run.

Southeastern State cut the score to 41-35 when Nick Sioson hit Chad Laury with a 55-yard touchdown pass with 6:22 remaining, but Charles Gonsalves gave the Reddies a nine-point lead with his GAC record-tying third field goal,this one from 25 yards, with 1:58 left.

Gonsalves also had a 30-yard field goal in the first quarter and a 26-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

OUACHITA BAPTIST 21, EAST CENTRAL (OKLA.) 17

Jordan Benson and Drew White converted two third-down attempts to seal OBU’s victory in Ada, Okla., just after East Central (1-2, 1-2 GAC) drove 85 yards in 15 plays for a touchdown with just under four minutes to play to get to within four points.

Benson completed a 14-yard pass to Knight on third-and-4 at the OBU 26 to keep the chains moving. Facing thirdand-12 at its 38, OBU (2-0, 2-0) called timeout with 1:08 remaining. Benson and White then connected for 17 yards to the ECU 45. The Tigers ran out the clock from there.

Down 10-3, OBU’s Steven Kehner scored from the 1 to tie the score 10-10 with 1:02 left in the second quarter.

Benson found White for a 12-yard touchdown to give OBU the lead for good at 17-10 with 9:10 left in the third quarter.

Chris Rycraw’s 2-yard touchdown run gave OBU a 24-10 lead with 8:32 left in the game before East Central’s Spencer Bond scored on a 10-yard run with 3:31 remaining to cut the deficit to 21-17.

Benson completed 18 of 32 passes for 197 yards and the touchdown to White, who had 9 catches for 120 yards.

Rycraw led all rushers with 95 yards on 25 carries. Kehner added 61 yards on 12 attempts.

ARKANSAS TECH 49, SOUTHERN NAZARENE 7

Senior Ketrich Harmon rushed for 132 yards and 3 touchdown on 18 carries to lead Arkansas Tech (2-1, 2-1 Great American Conference) past Southern Nazarene (0-3, 0-3 GAC) at SNU Football Stadium in Bethany, Okla.

Harmon because the first ATU player to rush for more than 100 yards since Casey Henderson ran for 141 yards against Southwestern Oklahoma in 2008.

Jonathan Keener added 62 yards rushing and a touchdown as the Wonder Boys rushed for 277 yards, the highest rushing total by ATU since a 282-yard performance on Oct. 31, 2009, against Delta State.

Deandre’ Bonner had two interceptions as the Wonder Boys held Southern Nazarene to 218 yards of total offense. The Wonder Boys held their opponents to just 27 yards rushing and allowed the Crimson Storm to convert just 4 of 15 third-down opportunities.

Harmon scored his first touchdown on an 18-yard run in the first quarter and his second on a 1-yard run in the second quarter as ATU took a 21-7 lead into halftime. His 6-yard touchdown run in the third quarter gave ATU a 35-7 lead.

Keener scored on a 44-yard run off a direct snap, and Justin Owens scored on runs of 2 and 3 yards.

SOUTHERN ARKANSAS 20, SW OKLAHOMA STATE 17

Tyler Sykora threw for 366 yards and two touchdowns as Southern Arkansas (2-1, 2-1 GAC) held off Southwestern Oklahoma (2-1, 2-1) at Wilkins Stadium in Magnolia.

Sykora completed 23 of 40 passes with 2 interceptions, and Jack Brown had 7 receptions for 153 yards and 1 touchdown.
