PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Arkansas didn’t try and fool anyone in pregame warmups about whether quarterback Brandon Allen would play Saturday against Rutgers.

Allen, who injured his right shoulder last week, wore shorts, a jersey and a ball cap during while AJ Derby took every snap for the Razorbacks in their 28-24 loss to the Scarlet Knights.

Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema said he’s not sure whether Allen will be able to play next week in the SEC opener against Texas A&M.

“If he can go, he can go,” Bielema said. “If not, we’ll continue with AJ’s progress and development and see what he can do.”

Allen took a few snaps in Thursday’s practice but didn’t throw any passes after getting his shoulder out of a sling earlier in the week. Bielema said after Thursday’s practice the coaches made the decision “we’re going full speed ahead” with Derby as the starter against Rutgers.
