Student Wins Poster Contest

BENTONVILLE — An eighth-grade student from Fulbright Junior High School recently won a youth poster contest sponsored by Bentonville and the Bentonville School District.

Melissa Wise’s artwork was selected from among many pieces submitted by students from Fulbright, Lincoln and Washington junior high schools. An unveiling of her artwork is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of the city’s Community Development Building, 305 S.W. A St.

The contest was in honor of National Community Planning Month and was aimed to raise awareness of the role of city planners and community planning across the country. Bentonville students were asked to illustrate their favorite place in the city, according to a news release.

Wise’s artwork will hang on the south side of the Community Development Building, and all submitted designs will be on display in the lobby throughout October. The artwork also will be highlighted at the City Expo from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 15 in the Walmart Room of the Bentonville Public Library, 405 S. Main St.
