ROGERS 30, FORT SMITH NORTHSIDE 28

ROGERS - Rogers came up with a safety with less than a minute to play as the Mountaineers (3-0) defeated the Grizzlies (0-2-1) at Whitey Smith Stadium.

Rogers chose to punt on fourthand-7 with the game tied at 28 with 1:13 remaining, and Kyle Eason pinned the Grizzlies at their 6. Two plays later, Shakari Jones slipped down in his own end zone on a reverse for a safety that allowed Rogers to pull out the victory.

The teams were tied 7-7 going into halftime, but Rogers took the lead on its opening drive in the second half with a 19-yard touchdown run by Preston Young.

Northside answered quickly, with Grant Hood throwing a 26-yard touchdown pass to Jones, but Rogers scored on its next two possessions to push the lead to 28-14 heading into the fourth quarter.

Hood threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Jones with 11:50 to play, then added a 40-yard touchdown run with 8:20 left in the game.

Brandon Workman ran 13 times for 113 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead Rogers, which rushed for 271 yards.

BIXBY (OKLA.) 45, SPRINGDALE 38

SPRINGDALE - Bixby rallied from a 24-point deficit in the second quarter to defeat Springdale (2-1) at Jarrell Williams Bulldog Stadium.

Nic Roller’s 1-yard touchdown run with 48 seconds left gave Bixby the victory and ruined Springdale’s shot at its first 3-0 start since the 2005 season.

Springdale’s defense gave up 387 yards in the second half, after forcing six turnovers in the first half, and its offense failed to pick up a first down in the second half.

Springdale’s Deandre Murray was held to 73 yards on 16 carries. He scored twice on runs of 6 and 27 yards. ROGERS HERITAGE 52, HARRISON 35

HARRISON - Joey Saucier returned a kickoff for a touchdown and ran for another score as Rogers Heritage (2-1) came back from a seven-point halftime deficit to defeat Harrison (1-2) at F.S. Garrison Stadium.

Heritage quarterback Josh Qualls passed for three touchdowns. Two of his touchdowns were 11-yard passes to Micca Brown. His other went to Jeremy Sprickes.
