Samaritan House

Charlie Phillips, Ozark Vintage Motorcycle Association club president, gave $1,100 to Shannon Green of the Samaritan House recently. The club raised the money with a raffle of a bike.

Washington Regional Auxiliary

The Washington Regional Medical Center Auxiliary recently fulfilled $550,000 in pledges to enhance hospital services and programs.

At a celebration marking the achievement, Dan Webb, auxiliary president-elect, presented a symbolic check to James Kimbrough, Washington Regional Medical Foundation executive director, representing payment on $500,000 the auxiliary pledged to help support two hospital building projects that were completed in 2002 and 2006, and a $50,000 pledge for Washington Regional’s Willard Walker Hospice Home, which was completed in 2011.

Auxiliary presidents during the pledge period included Butch Clinton, Frances Talley, Rose Marie Harris, Carol Allie, Lenthon Clark, Doris Hughey and Shirley Van-Horn.

Auxiliary members raised the money from annual dues, hospital gift shop proceeds and special sales throughout the year.

Springdale Chamber

The Springdale Chamber of Commerce was the recipient of a $25,000 AT&T Foundation grant on Aug. 5.

The grant will support Ignite Springdale!, a comprehensive effort by the Chamber to grow business, develop a strong work force and create more job opportunities in the community.

The AT&T Foundation grant will support the Workforce Preparedness and Education Initiative, which aims to improve workplace training in the Springdale School District so that the community’s high school students who directly enter the workforce will have the skills area employers need.

This investment enhances Springdale’s ability to keep and attract new industries and provides a critical edge in an increasingly competitive market.

Cathy Foraker, AT&T’s director of external affairs, presented the check to Todd Wood, Springdale Chamber board president.

Also in attendance were Perry Webb, chamber president; Micah Neal, state representative; Mike Morgenthaler, Lisa Ray and Linda Wray, chamber executive committee members; Jon Woods, state senator; and Charlie Collins, state representative.

Youth Bridge

Youth Bridge recently received a $2,000 donation from Target to continue its art therapy program for the girls and boys at its emergency shelters.

Youth Bridge depends on a variety of psychotherapy services such as art therapy to create a level of trust and accomplishment among clients.
