Little Rock officer fired after bar fight

A Little Rock police officer who was put on administrative leave after an April bar fight in Fayetteville has been fired, the Little Rock Police Department said Thursday.

Officer Jeffrey Harris, a former state trooper who joined the Little Rock Police Department in 2011, became the subject of an internal investigation along with a Prairie Grove drug task force investigator after the two were involved April 12 in a fight at Billy’s Pool Hall, known as “Billy’s Bar,” at 989 S. Razorback Road in Fayetteville, in which at least one of the officers pulled out a gun and pointed it at other patrons. Harris displayed a handgun during the fight, Little Rock police spokesman Sgt. Cassandra Davis confirmed at the time.

A Little Rock Police Department letter cites a number of rule violations as cause for termination, including rules on when officers may draw or display firearms; dereliction of duty; use of indecent language in public; conduct unbecoming an officer; intoxication while on-duty; and giving false statements.

Harris has 10 days to appeal his termination, Davis said in an emailed statement.
