German-Americans

The German-American Club of Northwest Arkansas will meet at 2 p.m. Sept. 8 at 1400 W. Walnut St. in Rogers. New members are welcome.

They will celebrate “Wine Fest” with German food and music. All crafters will meet one hour earlier.

Lions Club

Bella Vista Lions Club will meet at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday for a dinner buffet meeting at Concordia Retirement Center’s main building, 1 Concordia Drive. Tim Summers from Decision Point’s Bates Campus in Bentonville will be the guest speaker.

Guests are welcome. Dinner buffet is available for $9.

The Pea Ridge Ridge Rockers square dance club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday for a Ridge Rockers Labor Day dance at the Pea Ridge Middle School. A potluck dinner will be offered;

Historical Society

Randy McCory will present a program about MonteNe at the Benton County Historical Society meeting at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at the BCHS School House at 306 N.W.

Mercedes-Benz

The Mercedes-Benz Club of America will meet at 5 p.m. Friday at a member’s home on Table Rock Lake near Eureka Springs for a potluck dinner. The group will reassemble at 11 a.m.

Saturday at a vantage point near the city’s Rock Cottages Inn to watch its annual antique vehicle parade, which will include entries by several section members. At 2 p.m., some members will tour one of the city’s famous “painted lady” mansions while others admire a static display of the parade entries in a parking area near the Pine Mountain Jamboree building. At 4:15 p.m., thegroup will enter the building to attend the event’s awards ceremony. At 6:45 p.m., they will meet for dinner at a German-style restaurant.

The section usually meets the second Saturday of each month. Owning a Mercedes is not required.

Springdale Rotary

The Springdale Rotary Club has scheduled the following programs for the month of September. The club meets at 11:45 a.m. on Mondays at the Springdale Holiday Inn ballroom, and meetings are open to the public.

Sept. 2: There will be no meeting.

Sept. 9: Coach Shane Patrick from Springdale High School and Coach Chris Wood from Har-BerHigh School will speak about their plans and prospects for the upcoming football season.

Langley, administrator of the Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission, will address recent changes in liquor laws.

Sept. 23: In a joint meeting with the Northwest Arkansas Touchdown Club, former Razorback football Coach Lou Holtz will speak to Rotarians, Touchdown Club members and the general public. Tickets for this event are $25. The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Springdale Holiday Inn Convention Center, rather than the ballroom.

Sept. 30: Dick Trammel, Arkansas State Highway Commission representative, will discuss the new Don Tyson Parkway interchange on Interstate 540 and other upcoming highway projects.

There is a cost for the lunch at Rotary meetings.

Christian Women

The Christian Women’s Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 9 for a “Back to School” luncheon at the community building at First Assembly of God Church in Bentonville. Ginny Ellison of Bella Vista will tell her story, “That Night in New York City.” Local musician JoyTharp will entertain with music to fit the occasion.

All women are invited to attend. Lunch is $11 per person.

Bella Vista Iota Alpha Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi, will hold the first meeting of the 2013-14 year Sept. 11 at First Western Bank, 675 Memorial Drive in Bella Vista. The Ozark Highlands Trail Association will meet at 6 p.m. Sept. 8 for the fall kick-off meeting at the Washington County Extension Service.
