Barnes is accused of going to a Boone County home while off duty and seizing several guns, the sheriff’s office said. Barnes acted as though he were investigating an incident when seizing the weapons, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities later learned that Barnes sold the guns to other residents “for his own personal gain,” the sheriff’s office said.
