Construction of an overpass in north Fayetteville is ahead of schedule, according to Chris Brown, city engineer.
At a Glance
Most of the money to pay for the overpass is from federal highway coffers. The cost is split with 80 percent from federal sources and 20 percent from the city. The federal share is from an earmark the city received in the 2005 federal highway bill. The city’s share is from the city’s transportation bond program, which is backed by a voter approved, $65.9-million sales tax pledge that has paid for a variety of street improvement throughout town.
