Auditor candidates report fundraising

State Rep. Andrea Lea, R-Russellville, raised more money last quarter than her Republican opponent for state auditor, Ken Yang of Benton, according to their latest campaign-finance reports.

In a report filed Tuesday night with the secretary of state’s office, Lea reported $17,473 in contributions. She also loaned her campaign $25,000 and spent $5,147 last quarter. That left her with $37,326 in the bank as of Sept. 30.

Lea’s contributions included $250 apiece from Americans for Prosperity manager Teresa Crossland-Oelke of Rogers; House Speaker Davy Carter, R-Cabot; and attorney Chuck Banks of Little Rock; and $100 from Senate President Pro Tempore Michael Lamoureux, R-Russellville.

Yang, who works for the Family Council group, reported $6,855 in contributions. He loaned his campaign $3,404 and spent $2,184 last quarter. His total contributions are $27,109, total personal loans are $12,262 and total expenses are $5,241, leaving him with $34,130 in the bank as of Sept. 30.

Yang’s contributions included $350 from Saline County Prosecuting Attorney Ken Casady, $100 from Columbia County Justice of the Peace Carolyn Terry and $75 from Lonoke County Assessor Jack McNally.

Democratic candidate Regina Hampton, who works for Democratic state Auditor Charlie Daniels of Bryant, didn’t raise any campaign funds last quarter, according to a spokesman for her campaign.
