At A Glance
As part of Tuesday’s meeting Janie Darr, superintendent, presented the annual school report from the 2012-13 school year to the board. Test scores overall rose in the past several years, but Darr noted there have been some dips as schools changed to teaching Common Core standards which are still tested by Benchmark exams.
Literacy and math scores were down in both seventh and eighth grade and scores in seventh-grade science dipped. Common Core standards were rolled out in grades three through eight during 2012-13. In the Iowa Test of Basic Skills, Rogers consistently ranked higher than state scores. The test is offered nationally and Rogers students scored higher than 50 percent of the other test takers across the board.
