Volunteers Sought For Lake Fayetteville Cleanup

FAYETTEVILLE — The Lake Fayetteville Watershed Partnership is seeking volunteers to help pick up trash around Lake Fayetteville on Saturday.

The cleanup is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to John Pennington, partnership chairman.

There will be three check-in locations: Lake Fayetteville Environmental Study Center, 511 E. Lakeview Drive; Veterans Memorial Park pavilion, 4451 N. Vantage Drive; and Lake Fayetteville Marina, 1153 E. Lake Fayetteville Road.

Volunteers are encouraged to wear old clothes and gloves. Lunch and door prizes will be provided.

According to Pennington, more than 26,000 pounds of trash were removed from Lake Fayetteville during 12 cleanups.
