Discussion leaders are Robert B. Leflar and J.J. Peters.

Leflar is the Ben J. Altheimer Professor of legal advocacy at the University of Arkansas and author of “Reform of the U.S. Healthcare System: An Overview.” Peters, of Peters Healthcare Consultants, is a former government official with experience in Medicaid, Medicare, children’s health insurance, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and Arkansas’ HealthBenefits Exchange.

The Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., presents the Presbyterian Players in “Dave.” The olio performance is a musical set in the American West and based on the story of David and Goliath. Light refreshments will be served.

All Saints Episcopal Church in Bentonville, 406 W. Central Ave., offers a Blessing of the Animals at 10 a.m. today on the Bentonville Square. The blessing, held in conjunction with St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church in Bella Vista, offers the celebration in recognition of the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi.

The church presents Theresa Zimmerly in a one-woman quilt show Sunday. Zimmerly lives at the Bentonville ManorNursing Home and currently is hand piecing a log cabin quilt. She is a native of Austria, and a former resident of San Angelo, Texas, and a member of Concho Valley Quilt Guild.

Her work can be seen before and after the Sunday service at All Saints and also at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 406 W.

The church offers writing workshops. Local author Michael Mondl shares tips and tools to start writing and get published. The first session on overcoming writer’s block meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Oct. 16. The second session on the mechanics of publication meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Oct. 23. Mondl has written many dinner theater and stage plays and published more than 24 books. A love offering is suggested.
