National Honor Society
The National Honor Society was organized in 1921 under the sponsorship of the National Association of Secondary School Principals. More than 1 million students participate in the National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society. Chapters are found in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, many U.S. territories and Canada. The guiding principals are to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership and to develop character in the students of secondary schools, according to the organization’s constitution.
