Brandy Britton of Canehill was awarded the Odyssey Distiction Award for professionalism and leadership development by Hendrix College in Conway.

The Odyssey Distinction Award is a scholarship, ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 per year, given to students whose high school experiences demonstrate the ability to Think Outside the Book.

Every admitted student is automatically eligible.

Ashley Wiedenhoef of Fayetteville has been awarded the Jewel Minnis Scholarship to pursue and education at the University of Arkansas. This scholarship was established for the recognition of highability students enrolled at the University of Arkansas and exemplify the University’s commitment to learning and service.

Jana Emrich of Springdale was named to the spring 2013 Dean’s honor roll at Southwester College in Winfield, Kan. To qualify for the Dean’s list, students must complete at least 12 credit hours and earn a minimum 3.7 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Nathan Watson of Fayetteville recently attended a five week summer internship in June, 2013, in Washington D.C. with U.S. Senator Mark Pryor. “This internship gives Arkansas students an opportunity to better understand the legislative process and the importance of public service,” Pryor said.

In addition to assisting the senator, Watson spent one day a week volunteering at Food and Friends, an organization that provides meals to peoplesuffering from illnesses.

Watson is a sophomore at the University of Arkansas majoring in economics.

Emma Gartner of Springdale has been named to the spring Dean’s honor roll at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minn.

Elizabeth Sheeler of Fayetteville has graduated from the Jump Start program.

Jump Start is a three week career development program for blind and visually impaired high school students. She was among 21 students from Arkansas accepted into the program which ran from June 9, 2013, to June 28, 2013. Jump start students learn job skills, independent living skills and mobility training.

Hannah Golden of Fayetteville and Madison Heim of Springdale have been named to the spring 2013 Dean’s honor roll at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Ga.

To qualify for the Dean’s list, students much earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Denise Canonigo of Springdale received the MArgie L. Hall Endowed Scholarship in Nursing. She is a sophomore pre-nursing major and plans to graduate in May 2016.

Canonigo is the daughter of Jeraldine and Redentor Canonigo and is a graduate of Springdale High School.

Kate Bucknam of Fayetteville has been named to the spring 2013 Dean’s honor roll at the University of Minnesota in Twin Cities, Minn.

To qualify for the Dean’s list, students must complete 12 or more letter-graded credits while a attaining a 3.66 grade point average on a 4.0 grade scale.
