CLASS 6A Greenwood streak ends Pine Bluff kicker Austin McGehee more than made up for his early mistakes against Greenwood Friday night at Smith-Robinson Stadium. McGehee made a 42-yard attempt for a 37-34 victory as time expired to send the Zebras to the Class 6A state championship game and end Greenwood’s 50-game victory streak.

CLASS 5A Batesville in final Thanks to a timely forced turnover and the foot of Osvaldo Espericueta, Batesville (11-2) is going back to the Class 5A state championship game following its 31-28 victory over Alma on Friday. With the score tied at 28 in the final minutes, Raleigh Jeffrey sacked Alma’s Evan Burris and stripped him of the ball. Five consecutive runs moved Batesville to the 7, where Espericueta made the game winner from 24 yards out.

CLASS 4A Warren rolls Warren, behind three touchdown passes from quarterback Drake Jones, defeated Arkadelphia 31-24 in a Class 4A quarterfinal game Friday night at Jim Hurley Jr. Stadium in Warren.

CLASS 3A Harding falls

Charleston junior quarterback Ty Storey made sure there will be a new champion in Class 3A this season. Storey passed for a season-high 534 yards and seven touchdowns as the Tigers defeated Harding Academy 48-21 in a quarterfinal match up at First Security Field in Searcy. Harding Academy’s 25-game winning streak came to an end.
