BOYS

CONWAY 56, MILLS 49 John Nekonchuk scored 17 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked 4 shots in leading the visiting Conway Wampus Cats to a victory over the Mills Comets on Thursday night. Nekonchuk, a 6-5 junior, scored 11 of his points in the second quarter as the Cats (1-1) came back from a 16-11 first-quarter deficit. Senior guard Jalen Jones added 12 points and senior James Grubbs put in 10. Mills (0-1) was paced by senior guard Shaquon Fletcher, who hit 3 three-pointers and finished with a team-high 17 points. Junior Isiah Brown came off the bench to add 12 points, all on three-pointers. Conway out rebounded Mills 30-14, but was only 6 of 15 from the free-throw line, including 1 of 6 in the game’s final 1:04. Mills was 15 of 42 from the floor; Conway hit 19 of 36 attempts.

FOUNTAIN LAKE 59, BISMARCK 38 Sam Crutchfield’s 12 points helped the Cobras (1-1) down the Lions. Tate McKellar and Ben Wright added 10 each for Fountain Lake.

ROGERS 42, PEA RIDGE 39 Edgar Martinez led the Mounties (1-0) with 18 points in a road victory over the Black Hawks. Josh Boaz added 12 for Rogers. Zach Davis led Pea Ridge with 15.

GIRLS

BENTON 44, GREENBRIER 43 Braxton Chumbley, who led all scorers with 18 points, hit two free throws with :03 left to give Benton a victory over Greenbrier in the Searcy Classic. Kory Westerman scored 13 for Greenbrier, which held a 23-15 lead at the half.

ROGERS 61, PEA RIDGE 33 Callie King scored 11 points, all in the first quarter, as the Lady Mounties defeated the Lady Black Hawks in Pea Ridge. Mikheala Cochran led Pea Ridge with nine points. Cassandra Trexler led Rogers with 14 points. Libby Ganoung also scored 11 for Rogers.

MARMADUKE 84, McCRORY 33 The Lady Greyhounds (7-0) had six girls to score nine or more points in a victory at McCrory. Allison Hampton led Marmaduke with 14 points, while Shelby Blackburn, Madison Price and Callie Price all scored 10.

STUTTGART 54, PALESTINE-WHEATLEY 25 Jayda Williams scored 13 and Haley Johnson 12 as the Lady Ricebirds improved to 3-0 with a home victory over the Lady Patriots (0-1).
