33-year-old pedestrian killed in Fayetteville identified

FAYETTEVILLE — Police said a Lincoln man died after he was hit by a car on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, near the Farmington city limits Thursday night.

The man killed was identified in a news release as Tarren Phillips, 33.

Spencer Loos, 28, of Fayetteville was westbound in a 2005 Toyota Highlander when he struck Phillips, who was standing in the street near Hanshew Road, according to a news release. Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene, Stout said.

Loos swerved to try to avoid Phillips but was unable to avoid the collision according to the news release. Witness statements indicated Phillips was intoxicated, the news release stated.
