100 YEARS AGO Nov. 5, 1913 Chief of Police Fred M. Cogswell yesterday filed with the mayor his report of the cost of feeding the prisoners at police headquarters for the month of October. The report shows that 4,134 meals were furnished during the month at a cost of $390.55, the cost per meal being about 7 cents, a net gain of $164.19 over that which would have been paid under the former contract system of feeding the prisoners, the price of which was 11 cents a meal.
