A Baxter County inmate was found dead in his cell Friday morning by jail staff.
Thomas Lee Self, 36 of Gassville, was lying unresponsive on the mat in his cell around 9:15 a.m., Baxter County Sheriff John F. Montgomery said in a news release. Emergency medical officials were called to the jail, but Self was already dead, the release states.
Self was arrested Thursday evening by a Gassville officer on two misdemeanor charges and had outstanding warrants from other agencies.
Self’s body was sent to the state Crime Lab in Little Rock for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Further details were not immediately available.
