Volunteers To Survey Trail Users

ROGERS — More than a dozen volunteers will try to intercept walkers, runners and bike riders on Horsebarn trail, part of the Razorback Greenway trail system, Thursday through Saturday to survey trail use.

“We are conducting the survey for the Walton Family Foundation and the Alta Group,” said Andrea Brinton, city assistant park director.

The greenway is being paid for by $15 million in federal transportation money and matching money from the Walton Family Foundation. The Alta Group has overseen the design and construction of the trail which, when complete, will span from Fayetteville to Bella Vista, about 26 miles.

The survey is designed to determine who uses the greenway, how often and what improvement or amenities could be added to make the trail experience better, Brinton said.

Volunteers are scheduled to intercept trail users from 8 to 10 a.m., from noon to 2 p.m. and from 4 to 6 p.m. all three days, park officials said.

Rain is forecast for today and Friday, which could hamper the survey.

“If it’s not pouring, and we believe people will be using the trail, we will try to work through the rain. If the weather doesn’t cooperate we will have to rescheduled the survey,” Brinton said.
