Weekend On Tap

Arkansas’s free fishing weekend will begin at noon on June 7 and run through June 9.

Residents or nonresidents do not need a fishing license or trout permit to fish during this time.

Oklahoma’s free fishing weekend is this weekend, June 1-2. Missouri’s free fishing weekend is June 8-9.

Patterson, Claypool

Win Trail Event

Chris Patterson and Jeremy Claypool won the Everett Chevrolet Team Trail bass tournament held Saturday at Beaver Lake. They had five bass that weighed 15.09 pounds.

Jeff Cook and Johnny Porter were second with five bass at 15.01 pounds. Nick Frakes and Andy Benson placed third with five bass at 13.65 pounds.

In fourth were Mike Roughton and Bryan Wolfgang with five bass at 13.36 pounds. Keith Brashers and Nicky Parson were fifth with five bass at 13.28 pounds.

Kevin Koester and Scotty Parsons had big bass at 5.14 pounds.

One-Fly Event

Benefits Retreats

A one-fly trout tournament to benefit Reel Recovery fishing retreats for male cancer survivors is set for June 8 at the White River below Beaver Dam. The drawing for partners is at 6:30 a.m. at the parking lot immediately below Beaver Dam. Fishing is from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Lunch and prize drawings will follow.

Entry fee is $20 and includes lunch and prize drawings. Anglers receive one fly to use in the tournament, but “mulligan” flies may be purchased for $5 each, with a limit of four flies.
