Arkansas 16 crash kills infant; 2 hurt

An infant was killed and two other people were injured Sunday when a vehicle drove off Arkansas 16 in Madison County, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

Nine-month-old Elisha Vanhoose of Springdale was killed when the vehicle she was riding in, a 1999 Toyota, left the roadway, struck a sign and slid down an embankment, striking several trees before coming to rest on its right side in the westbound culvert, according to the report. The report said the vehicle was westbound and that the incident occurred east of Crosses.

Hannah Bryan, 20, the vehicle’s driver, and Skylar Bryan, 7 months, were injured in the accident. The two were taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo., according to the report. A spokesman with Mercy Hospital said Tuesday that she had no information on the status of either individual.

According to the report, weather conditions were clear and the road was dry Sunday.
