Man Arrested In Connection With Hit-Run

A Springdale man was arrested Sunday in connection with a hit-and-run accident that sent an 8-year-old child to Northwest Medical Center-Springdale. The child had a swollen leg and possible head injury, according to an arrest report.

Rick Jihu, 31, of 276 Strawberry Meadows Place in Springdale was driving a red Ford Mustang and lost control, then hit an oncoming vehicle at 314 Strawberry Meadows Place and fled the scene, according to the report.

Police found Jihu hiding behind a tree at 325 Berry St. in Springdale. Jihu did not tell police why he fled, but police found that Jihu had two arrest warrants out of Springdale and a suspended driver’s license, according to the report.

Jihu faces felony leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and misdemeanor driving on a suspended driver’s license, careless or prohibited driving and no proof of insurance. He was being held Sunday in the Washington County Detention Center with no bond set.
