British police arrest 50-year-old man linked to soldier’s murder

LONDON — British police on Monday arrested a 50-year-old man in connection with the hacking death of a British soldier on the streets of London last week, Scotland Yard said.

The suspect was taken into custody in southeast London on the charge of conspiracy to commit murder, with law enforcement searching an address in the same area.

It is the tenth arrest police have made in their investigation into the gruesome attack last week against 25-year-old soldier Lee Rigby, who was hit by a car and then repeatedly stabbed in broad daylight by two men.

The alleged duo, who were captured on video delivering jihadist messages to stunned onlookers, were arrested at the scene and remain in the hospital in stable condition after being shot by police.

Some 1,000 supporters of the English Defense League far-right group marched through central London on Monday. Demonstrators chanted "Muslim killers off our streets" and held signs reading "Blood on your hands."
