! A Summer Basketball League is being offered by the Rogers Activity Center. The league will be open to students in grades 5-8 for the 2013-14 academic school year. Cost for registration is $60. Each participant must have a current RAC membership ($20). Separate boys and girls teams will be formed. Each team will practice once to twice per week and play two games per week with a maximum of eight games in the season. Program will start July 1 and run through Aug. 2. GOLF

! The 17th annual Trent Trumble Memorial Bulldog Scramble will be June 7 at Paradise Valley Athletic Club in Fayetteville. The entry fee is $100 per player and there are morning and afternoon tee times. Lunch will be provided from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds benefit Fayetteville High School athletics. ! American Legion Post 341 will host its sixth annual American Heroes Golf Tournament on June 8 at Kingswood Complex in Bella Vista. Proceeds go to Wounded Warrior Project, Fisher House, the Fayetteville Veterans’ Home and to help ship boxes to the troops in Afghanistan. The four-man scramble begins at 8 a.m. and includes lunch, door prizes and a raffle. Cost is $65 plus cart and you do not have to be a POA member to participate. ! “Do It for the Girls” is the theme of the 16th annual Rally for the Cure golf tournament scheduled for June 11 in Bella Vista. All proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure within Northwest Arkansas. The golf tournament is open to all women. Participation in the 18-hole, 4-person scramble is $65 per golfer. ! The fourth annual Tiger Open will be held June 14 at The Creeks at Cave Springs. The event is a four-person, best-ball scramble with 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. tee times.

! The 16th annual Rogers Optimist Club Roger Crafton Memorial Tournament will be June 14 at Lost Springs Athletic Club in Little Flock. The event is a 4-person scramble with morning and afternoon tee times. The cost is $80 per player or $320 per team. There will be a par-3 contest during the scramble. ! The Friends of the Highlands annual Fourth of July Golf Tournament will be held July 4. The event is a two-person scramble with each member contributing at least five drives.

Following the tournament, dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. at Mulligans at the Highlands. The tournament is limited to the first 72 couples. The cost is $60 per couple, which includes dinner, tax and tip. The fee, however, does not include green fees and carts.

! The First Tee is now taking registrations for its golf and life skills classes that begin in June.

Annual registration is $30 making participants eligible to register in seven sessions of classes (April-October) and receive discounts at the Tyson Foods First Tee Learning Center in Lowell and at participating area golf courses.

! The First Tee will offer 16 weeks of Summer Golf Camp in 2013. Camps will run Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m.

! Registration for The First Tee’s Unilever Girls Golf Program will continue through June 4. The program, available to girls ages 13 to 18, will meet twice a month (May thru Aug.) on the first and third Tuesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Tyson Foods First Tee Learning Center in Lowell. These sessions will include golf lessons and golf course time. In addition, the girls will meet one time a month in a more social setting, including meeting Stacy Lewis at the LPGA NWA Championship. Cost of the program is $25 with a First Tee Annual Registration.

FENCING

! Northwest Arkansas Fencing Center registration is open for the June Introductory Fencing Classes. June classes will run Mondays and Wednesdays starting June 3. This will be the final class until September.

Classes are from 6 to 7 p.m. and run for three weeks (six classes).

! The Rogers Activity Center and the NWA LAX Club will hold a four-week Lacrosse Academy for boys and girls in grades 3-12. Two sessions will be offered. The first session is June 3 and the second session is July 8. Sessions are held on Tuesday and Thursday of each week from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The academy will be held at Forester Park and the fee is $60 per session. A $20 RAC membership is required. Equipment needed includes a lacrosse stick, lacrosse helmert, lacrosse goggles and a mouthpiece. Some equipment will be available. Register at the RAC.

! Arkansas Select soccer will host its TeamFirst Soccer Academy on June 7 to 9 at Memorial Soccer Park in Bentonville. Olympic gold medalists Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly and Tisha Hoch will conduct the academy. The academy will be from 9 a.m. to noon forplayers ages 8 to 12, and 1 to 4 p.m. for players ages 13 to 19.

SUMMER CAMPS BASEBALL

! The annual Rogers High Mountaineer Baseball Summer Camp will be held from 8:30 a.m.

BASKETBALL

! Springdale High will hold a basketball clinic from 8:30-10 a.m.

! The Tiger Round-ball Skill Camp will be held May 28-30 in Tiger Arena in Bentonville.

Camp sessions are 9-11:30 a.m. for fundamental skills (grades 3-7) and 1-3 p.m. for competitive skills (grades 5-8).

Campers should wear t-shirts, shorts and adequate basketball shoes. Cost of the camp is $65 per session or $115 for both sessions, with a $5 late penalty if campers aren’t preregistered.
