Aldama Receives National Recognition

BENTONVILLE - Ben Aldama, dean of Adult Education at NorthWest Arkansas Community College, has received the John and Suanne Roueche Excellence Award.

“Ben demonstrates a genuine dedication to his students and their ability to learn,” said Becky Paneitz, college president. “He is an outstanding example of the college’s commitment to its learners and to the institution’s founding pillars of quality, accessibility and aff ordability.”

The recognition, presented through the League for Innovation in the Community College, celebrates excellence in teaching. The honor is named for John E. and Suanne D. Roueche, leaders in the community college field and early proponents of the idea teachers have major responsibility for how well students perform in the classroom, according to a news release.

Aldama has served the college since 2002.

“Being named a recipient of the Roueche Excellence Award is a tremendous honor,” Aldama said. “I share this recognition with the faculty and staff of the Adult Education Program. We have a great team of educators whose priority is our students’ achievement. I love coming to work every morning.” Recipients were presented with commemorative medallions and certificates. Aldama also was honored at the college’s board meeting May 13.
