Lions Club

Bella Vista Lions Club will meet at 5:45 p.m.

Tuesday for a dinner buffet meeting at Concordia Retirement Center’s main building, 1 Concordia Drive.

Norine Westerbeck, guest speaker and a Lion, will describe the mission and functions at Arkansas’ Lions Camp for blind and disabled kids. Guests are welcome to attend.

The Kingsdale Squares will not dance May 27.

Sunflower Club

The Kansas Sunflower Club will meet at noon Thursday at the Village Insurance meeting room.

Pizza will be ordered after arrival. Bring a small salad or dessert.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Steve and Darlene Hill.

All former Kansas residents are invited. There are no dues.

Women’s Golf

The Bella Vista Women’s Golf Club’s “Stars & Stripes Forever” Firecracker Scramble will be held July 11 on the Berksdale and Kingswood golf courses. Entry forms will be in the golf shops and on the website May 28. The entry deadline is July 1.

Book Club

The Bella Vista Book Club will meet at 1 p.m.

Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive, to discuss Geraldine Brooks’ “Caleb’s Crossing.”

Retired Teachers

Washington County Retired Teachers Association will meet Monday at Golden Corral in Fayetteville.

Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m.

in the Razorback Room.

Members are reminded that lunch is $10 payable to the treasurer. Membership dues of $20 are due at this meeting along with volunteer hour sheets. This is the last meeting until September. New officers will be installed, and teachers who have died within the year will be remembered.

Hill N Dale Hikers

The Hill N Dale Hikers will meet Thursday to hike Slaughter Pen Phase II Trail in Bentonville. Hikers will meet at 8 a.m. at Havenwood Drive, which is in north Bentonville. After the hike they will have lunch on the Bentonville square.

Quilts of Love

Granny’s Quilts of Love will meet for a work day and planning for the fundraiser at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge.

Pieces ’N Patches

Pieces ’N Patches will meet Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, 805 W. Olrich St. in Rogers. Charlotte Ralston will host the community service program.

Come to make quilts for babies and children in shelters in the area. Pre-cut fabric will be provided for sewing; bring sewing machine, thread and scissors.

The meeting starts at 10 a.m., and lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. Visitors are welcome.

Rotary Club

The Holiday Island Rotary Club will host its third annual Party in the Park from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Veterans Park at Holiday Island. A brief MemorialDay ceremony by the Holiday Island American Legion Post 36 will start at 4:45 p.m. Swing and A Miss will play music from 5 to 8 p.m.

The meal of pulled pork with side dishes comes with bottled water. Guests may bring their choice of beverages. Tickets are $8 from any Holiday Island Rotary Club member or at Cornerstone Bank in Holiday Island or at Arvest Bank in Eureka Springs.

Civil War

The Northwest Arkansas Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, 118 W. Johnson Ave. in Springdale.

The program will be presented by Charles Alison of Fayetteville on “Stephen Bedford: Wartime Mayor of Fayetteville.” The programis free and open to the public. Anyone with an interest in the Civil War is invited.

Military Officers

The Military Officers Association of America, Bella Vista Chapter, will meet for dinner May 28 in Concordia’s dining room, 1 Concordia Drive in Bella Vista. Social hour starts at 5:30 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30 p.m.

Stele James, Veterans Administration county officer, will speak on the Home 4 Dinner program.

A free-will collection will be held to support the Care Packages for the Troops program.

All men and women who served or are serving as officers of the U.S. Armed Forces qualify for membership. Guests and prospective members are welcometo attend.

Fly Tyers

Radio show host “Big Ed” Javorsky of the Fan Outdoors will address the Bella Vista Fly Tyers and Fishing Club Thursday. Big Ed will give tips on where to fish locally and productive lures to land the “big one.” The session begins at 9:30 a.m.

at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista. The 140-member fishing club meets every Thursday morning with discussions on varied subjects.

Senior Democrats

The Senior Democrats of Northwest Arkansas will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Western Sizzlin’, 3492 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale. Guest speaker will be Sen. Uvalde Lindsey speaking on lessons of the 89th Legislative Session.
