Dr. Scott Cooper, a surgeon at Ozark Orthopaedics of Rogers since 1996, has been elected as a district trustee of the Arkansas Medical Society, a voluntary professional association, established in 1875.

Erica Preston was promoted to senior vice president and secretary of the board of directors of Simmons First Bank of Northwest Arkansas. She has more than 16 years banking experience in Northwest Arkansas, joining Simmons First in 2000. Her most recent title was manager of operations and branch administration for the Northwest Arkansas affiliate bank of Simmons First National Corporation. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas with a double major in psychology and political science.

William Winn, operations manager for Fayetteville Water and Wastewater, was presented the award of 2013 James Bailey Memorial Educator of the Year at the annual Arkansas Water Works & Water Environment Association awards luncheon in Hot Springs. He has 24 years in the water and wastewater field. In addition to his position as assistant operations manager for Fayetteville’s Water and Wastewater Division, he is on the faculty of the Arkansas Environmental Training Academy for Southern University of Arkansas Tech. Previously, he served as technical services director for Springdale Water and Wastewater Utilities and as public works director for the City of Gravette. He holds a bachelor’s degree in agronomy and environmental science from the University of Arkansas.

Bob King, water treatment manager for the city of Prairie Grove, is this year’s recipient of the Waterworks Outstanding Achievement Award among cities with a population of less than 5,000. He also received the Northwest Chapter’s award for Water Operator of the Year. He has worked for the city for 24 years.

Tammy Bennett will be promoted to general manager of the War Eagle Mill and Granary operations June 1. Before the Lowell native started at the mill in 2005, she worked in the Wal-Mart Information Systems Division for seven years. She has served in several areas at the mill, the last year as chief operating officer.

Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville has two nurses in the Emergency Department who recently achieved certification in emergency nursing, which requires meeting eligibility guidelines and passing a nationally administered exam.

Kathi Hanson, R.N., joined the hospital in 2005 and graduated from Rapid City Regional Hospital School of Nursing in South Dakota. She is a member of the Emergency Nurses Association, serving as state and local membership chairman for the group’s local chapter.

Alan Spears, R.N., B.S.N., earned a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from the University of Arkansas and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
