2 held in shooting of Rogers man

Two Rogers men were being held on charges of attempted capital murder in the shooting Saturday of another man, according to Rogers police.

A news release from the Police Department said Mario Torres, 18, and James Carranza, 21, had been arrested and were being held in the Benton County jail Saturday awaiting abail hearing.

Jose Quiroz Jr., 23, of Rogers was shot between five and seven times in the torso with a .40-caliber handgun at North Third and West Persimmon streets, according to the release.

Quiroz was taken by a friend to Mercy Medical Center in Rogers, where he underwent surgery. He was recovering Saturday afternoon, the release stated.
