Missing Conway man’s body found at Toad Suck dam

The body of a Conway man who was reported missing after he went fishing Tuesday near Cadron Settlement Park was found Sunday in the Arkansas River, according to Arkansas Game and Fish Commission officials.

Mark Russell, 43, was found dead about 1 p.m. Sunday near Toad Suck Park in Faulkner County, said commission enforcement officer Ross Spurlock.

Spurlock said that it appears Russell was traveling at a high rate of speed when his boat hit an object and ejected him into the water. Russell’s cause of death has not yet been determined, according to Faulkner County Coroner Patrick Moore.

Moore said that family members helped identify Russell’s body Sunday afternoon.

Russell was reported missing 8:30 Wednesday morning after he didn’t return home from fishing the night before, according to Spurlock. He said that Russell’s truck and boat trailer were found about 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cadron Settlement Park and that his boat was found against the Toad Suck dam.
