Stephens Media Announces New Times Record Publisher

FORT SMITH — Longtime Stephens Media executive Tom Stallbaumer will take over as publisher of the Times Record on May 20.

Stallbaumer is no stranger to western Arkansas, having published The Morning News, based in Springdale, from 1994 to 2010.

He replaces Gene Kincy who has been the Times Record’s publisher for nearly 20 years. Although Kincy planned to begin his retirement when he stepped down, he will remain with Stephens Media to work on special projects.

“We are very fortunate to have someone of Tom’s experience and past accomplishments to step into the very important position of publisher of the Times Record,” said Mike Ferguson, president and CEO of Stephens Media.

Stallbaumer, 53, is publisher of Las Vegas CityLife and Best of Las Vegas, a position he’s held since April 2012. Before that, he was director of digital sales and marketing for Stephens Media, working with a team in Las Vegas to launch Stephens Media Digital Solutions, which supports properties throughout the organization.

Stallbaumer is a graduate of Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan., with a bachelor’s degree in journalism/mass communications.

An alumnus of Leadership Rogers and Leadership Springdale, Stallbaumer has been active in community organizations. He served for four years on the Leadership Springdale Council, including taking a turn as president for one year, and he served on the Rogers Chamber of Commerce board of directors and board of advisers. He also served on the Main Street Rogers board of directors, acting as both vice chairman and chairman. He served on the Northwest Arkansas Council board of directors.

“It’s going to be great to be back in Arkansas,” Stallbaumer said Friday. “I am looking forward to working with the people there.
