Fayetteville 11, Springdale High 0 (6)

Brittany Hoskins had three hits, including a double and a run batted in, and Ashyle Pool add two hits and two RBIs to lead Fayetteville against Springdale High at Lady’Dawg Yard.

Pool also picked up the win, allowing just two hits with 11 strikeouts in six innings.

Fayetteville (17-9, 9-3 7A/6A-West) led just 5-0 after five innings, before a six-run outburst ended the game in mercy-rule fashion after the bottom of the sixth.

The Lady Purple’Dogs host Bentonville at 5 p.m. today. A win clinches a share of the 7A/6A-West Conference title for Fayetteville.

GIRLS

Rogers Heritage 7, Monett, Mo. 0

Raya Jones and Gina Britton each had a goal and an assist and helped the Lady War Eagles notch their school-record 17th victory to close regular-season play Monday.

Senior Ellen Lundy also got her record 27th goal this season, which eclipses the school record of 26 by Chris Hernandez. She had earlier broken the girls’ single-season record of 19, which she held. It was also Heritage’s ninth consecutive win.

Freshman Keely Compton took a pass from Britton and scored 35 seconds into the match. Lundy added her goal less than two minutes later and the Lady War Eagles rolled to the win.

Keepers Stacey Schimmel and Stormy Concoby combined on the shutout in goal for Heritage (17-4-2).

PREP BASEBALL

Rogers High 13, Fort Smith Northside 0

Rogers High jumped out to an early 8-0 lead and the Mounties went on to defeat Fort Smith Northside.

Rogers finished with 12 hits.

Brett Gentz hit a three-run home run and finished with five RBIs. Camdon Myers, Carter Forbis and Zach Arrick had two hits each for Rogers (18-10).

Four Rogers pitchers combined to throw a one-hitter. Gentz had three strikeouts in an inning of work.

Bentonville 7, Fort Smith Southside 2

Bentonville scored six times in the top of the fifth inning Monday, and five Tigers pitchers combined on a four-hitter in a nonconference victory at Fort Smith Southside.

Chris Mizelle put Bentonville (18-9) ahead to stay when his single drove in Austin Haggard and gave the Tigers a 3-2 cushion. Will Jibas and Paul Rouse added an RBI triple apiece, while Clay Lewis also drove in a run with a double.

Preston Rosales, the third Bentonville pitcher, threw two innings of one-hit ball and picked up the win. Carter Brown and Peyton Fitch each threw an inning of hitless relief.

Bentonville returns to action Thursday with a first-round game at the Class 7A State Tournament, which will be played Thursday at Rogers’ Veterans Park.
