Pitcher Dallas Keuchel (Arkansas Razorbacks), who was optioned to Class AAAOklahoma City by the Houston Astros on April 21, was recalled to Houston on Thursday. Keuchel promptly took the loss in the Astros’ 7-3, 14-inning loss to Detroit on Thursday night, allowing 4 runs (all earned) on 7 hits with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts in 41/3 innings. He won his only start forOklahoma City against New Orleans on April 26, allowing just 3 hits with 5 strikeouts in 6 innings.

Four pitchers with Arkansas ties earned two victories this week. DJ Baxendale (Arkansas Razorbacks/Jacksonville), Zach Cates (Conway), Chase Huchingson (Central Arkansas/ Fayetteville) and Ben Wells (Alexander) allaccomplished the feat. Huchingson’s victories were his first for the season, while Baxendale improved to 4-0 and Wells moved to 3-1.

Baxendale’s hot start has not gone unnoticed by the Minnesota Twins organization, which named him the pitcher of the month for April.

Baxendale helped the Class A Fort Myers (Fla.) Miracle to a 21-4 record in April.

Zack Cox (Arkansas Razorbacks) was placed on the 7-day disabled liston Thursday by the Jacksonville Suns (AA Marlins) with a strained right hamstring. Cox, who suffered the strain while trying to make a play in the field on April 28 against Mobile, is batting .328 this season with no home runs and five RBI.
