What’s to love: A new color for a classic line of dinnerware and a new potential collector’s item.

What does it do: Lapis is the newest color for the dinnerware made by the Homer Laughlin China Co. The gemstone blue is one of 44 colors produced since the brand was launched in 1936 and then reintroduced in 1986. Four-piece place settings sell for $29.99. The china company has introduced the Fiesta Fancy Lady cookie jar for Fiestaware collectors, which will be available in July. Collectors will recognize the dancing lady from Fiesta’s logo. The cookie jar will sell for $290.

What’s to love: This handle, intended to help those who need assistance getting in and out of the bathtub, is an award-winning design by Jason International of North Little Rock.

What does it do: The grab bar is installed on the wall of the tub and makes stepping in and out of the bath easier and safer.

The handle comes in white, natural bone and “bisquite” and can be installed with a few standard tools. It sells for $299. It received the 2013 Gold Award for Design Excellence from the Industrial Designers Society of America in one of the largest annual awards programs for product design of furniture, fixtures and finishes.
