Buddhist teacher to lead retreat

LITTLE ROCK - Buddhist teacher Anam Thubten Rinpoche will give a public talk, “Spiritual Discourse,” at 7 p.m. Friday at Unitarian Universalist Church, 1818 Reservoir Road. The suggested donation is $10 or $15. Anam Thubten will also lead an Awakening Retreat April 6-7 at the Ecumenical Buddhist Society, 1015 W. Second St. in downtown Little Rock. The program will be 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 2:30-5 p.m. both days. Cost is $75 per day or $130 for both days.

Easter service set at statue

EUREKA SPRINGS - The Western Carroll County Ministerial Association and the Great Passion Play will host an Easter service at 7 a.m. Sunday at the Christ of the Ozarks statue, 935 Passion Play Road. Music will be provided by the Carroll County Interdenominational Choir. Dick Kelsey, chief operating officer of the Great Passion Play, will deliver the Easter message.

Breakfast will follow in the Great Hall. Proceeds will go to the Great Passion Play.

Center to host 90th sunrise service

FAYETTEVILLE - The public is welcome to attendthe 90th annual Easter Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. Sunday at Mount Sequoyah Center, 150 N. Skyline Drive. The service will be in the outdoor chapel at Vesper Point. The Rev. Sara Pair, senior pastor of Sequoyah United Methodist Church, will give the Easter message. Music will be provided by pianist Jonathan Story and music leader Ray Boudreaux.

An Easter breakfast catered by Razor’s Edge will follow in the dining hall. Tickets for breakfast can be bought online at mountsequoyah.org. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children and free for those 5 and younger.

Series examines online gaming

FAYETTEVILLE - Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 901 W. Cleveland St., will have a Think Tank series, “Games People Play,” 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and April 17. The free program, for those 16 and older, will explore the personal benefits and social impact of online games.

The first session will focus on SuperBetter, an online social game designed to build personal resilience in the face of real challenges, such as illness or injury, depression or anxiety, or for help in making health changes, like weight loss. The second session will include information on a variety of social games available through the Games for Change organization.
