NWA FISHING REPORT

Beaver Lake: Continued chilly weather means fishing has changed little from last week.

John Hodge at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said black bass are biting shad-colored jerk baits, Alabama rigs or crawdad-colored crank baits.

Points and creek arms are good places to fish.

Garland Villines at Hickory Creek Marina said minnows or jigs are working for crappie 5 to 15 feet deep around brush.

Black bass are biting jerk baits or Alabama rigs.

Jason Piper at J.T. Crappie Guide Services said crappie are suspended in 20 to 35 feet of water. Fish a jig or minnow 6 feet deep on sunny days and as deep as 20 feet on cloudy, cool days.

Good areas to fish include Pine Creek, Hickory Creek, Eden’s Bluff and Monte Ne.

Don Grose at Cabela’s said black bass are biting crank baits in the White and War Eagle river arms.

Walleye are migrating out of the river arms as the spawn ends, Grose said. Try Berkley Flicker Shads or Rapala Shad Raps.

White River below Beaver Dam: Lisa Mullins at the Beaver Dam Store said trout are biting nightcrawlers or Power Bait tipped with a waxworm.

Good lures include small spoons or microjigs. Midges and woolly buggers are good fly choices.

Lake Fayetteville: Dollie Black at Lake Fayetteville boat dock said crappie and white bass are biting minnows or jigs. Try crank baits or jerk baits for black bass.

Lake Sequouyah: Mike McBride at Lake Sequoyah bait shop said crappie fishing is good with jigs or minnows 2 to 8 feet deep.

Use jerk baits or crank baits for black bass. Try liver for catfish.

Lake Elmdale: Lucky Key at Duck Camp Fishing Retreat recommends suspending jerk baits or orange-brown jig and pigs for black bass. Try minnows or metal-flake jigs for crappie.

Prairie Grove Lake: Lake Manager Dennis Kruse said black bass bit plastic wormslast weekend. Crappie were caught shallow with jigs.

The lake is open Saturdays and Sundays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Only electric motors or paddlecraft may be used.

Bella Vista: Justin McClelland at Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista said jerk baits or jigs are working for black bass at all Bella Vista lakes.

Crappie fishing is fair at lakes Windsor and Ann on minnows or jigs 8 to 10 feet deep.

Upper Table Rock Lake: J.D. Fletcher at Eagle Rock,Mo., said white bass are beginning to bite. Anglers report catching them in the Roaring River arm on Rooster Tails and jigs.

Eastern Oklahoma: Kenny Stroud at BW Outdoors in Siloam Springs said crappie are biting at Lake Eucha on minnows or jigs 10 feet deep. Try jerk baits for black bass.

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation reports good catfishing at Grand Lake on cut bait 10 to 30 feet deep on the north end of the lake.
