The Ozark Mountain Bike Festival at Devil’s Den State Park marks its 25th anniversary with guided rides, bike contests and workshops April 5-7.
All events are free. Helmets are required and riders should expect the trails to be muddy. Most rides are held on the 5.5-mile Fossil Flats Trail.
The festival starts at 2:30 p.m. on April 5 with an easy ride around the Fossil Flats Trail led by Rebekah Penny and Tim Scott of the park staff .
Saturday’s schedule: Guided ride on the Fossil Flats Trail suitable for beginner mountain bikers, 9 a.m.
Guided ladies-only ride along Fossil Flats Trail, 10 a.m.
Basic riding clinic, Fossil Flats Trail, 1 p.m. Learn to pedal efficiently and navigate rough terrain.
Guided intermediate 12-mile ride, 2 p.m.
Kids fun event with bike limbo, teeter-totter and cone course, 2:30 p.m.
Poker run, Fossil Flats Trail, 4 p.m., suitable for all riders.
Mountain bike contests with bike toss, slow race, limbo and bunny hop contests, 6 p.m.
Hamburger cookout, 7 p.m.
Guided night ride, suitable for intermediate riders, 8:30 p.m., riders must have one source of light.
Sunday: Guided ride on Fossil Flats Trail suitable for beginners age 12 and up, 9 a.m.
Intermediate ride on Fossil Flats and Butterfield trails, 10 a.m.
Trail-maintenance workshop, 10:30 a.m.
