Crappie Pros Offer Tips

Six of the nation’s top crappie experts will be at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Anglers Charlie Bunting, Matt Morgan, Dan Dannenmueller, Paul Alpers and Mike Vallentine will be at the store in conjunction with the Children’s Miracle Network crappie tournament being held at Beaver Lake on Saturday.

The fishermen will be available to answer questions and offer tips for catching crappie.

Duo Notches Second Win

Larry Walker and Jared Goble won the Everett Maxey Team Trail bass tournament held Saturday at Beaver Lake.

They had five bass that weighed 19.29 pounds, including a largemouth of 7.04 pounds that won the big bass prize.

It was the team’s second consecutive Everett Maxey tournament win.

Rocky Hopkins and Justin Hathorn were second with five bass at 18.05 pounds.

Jeff Cook and Johnny Porter placed third with five bass at 17.31 pounds.

Holt, Foster Win

Guys, Gals Event

Teddy Holt and April Foster won the Beaver Lake Guys and Gals bass tournament held Sunday with five bass that weighed 12.64 pounds.

Justin and Pam Mounce were second with five basss at 10.84 pounds. Jim and June Long had big bass at 3.68 pounds.

Most fish were caught on Alabama rigs or jerk baits.

Tournament Benefits Hospitals

A crappie tournament to benefit Children’s Miracle Network hospitals will be held at Beaver Lake from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Entry fee is $50 per boat.

First prize is $1,500. Cash and merchandise prizes go to the top 10 teams and there’s a prize for the largest crappie.

The tournament limit is seven fish.

Register on tournament morning at Prairie Creek park or pre-register at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers.

There will be a preregistration event from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Candlewood Suites in Rogers.

Group Hears Plans For Tailwater

The area Trout Unlimited chapter will meet on Monday at 6 p.m. at Cabela’s in Rogers.

Jeff Williams, trout biologist with the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission, will give a program at 7 p.m. about trout projects planned for the Beaver tailwater and other trout waters.

Boat Safety Course Set For Bella Vista

A free boating safety course will be offered in Bella Vista at Riordan Hall from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 4.

The course is open to the public. It meets the requirement that boat operators born after Jan. 1, 1986 must take a boating safety course.
