FAYETTEVILLE — Kindergarten registration for the next school year begins Thursday at each of the nine elementary schools.
Schools will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. to register all incoming kindergartners. A child must be 5 years old by Aug. 1,.
Parents need to bring a utility bill or rental agreement to show proof of residency; state birth certificate; immunization record and Social Security card.
Children are required to have a physical exam within 90 days of enrollment.
A new feature has been added this year.
Parents can do some of the paperwork online at www.fayar.net.
As of Tuesday, some 227 had taken advantage of the online registration.
Alan Wilbourn, public information director for the school district, said parents can save some time by using the online registration but they must go to a school Thursday to provide the required documents.
