PUBLIC VIEWPOINT: Criticism Of Safeguard Act Off Target

As evidenced by your newspaper’s distasteful “How We See It” editorial piece on March 18, you media types obviously do not see the true value of Rep. Bob Ballinger’s Second Amendment Liberties Safeguard Act (House Bill 1752) like many of us good regular citizens do.

It is downright shameful how you ridiculed his very justifiable attempt to reclaim some of our precious individual and state rights from our now way-too-big-for-his-britches and overreaching Uncle Sam.

What part of the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution do you media folks not understand and support?

Bear in mind that the synergistic combination of the Second and 10th Amendments serve to protect all our other liberties (including those First Amendment rights you media types so vigorously strive to ensure, for such obviously biased reasons) from the very real threats of an oppresive centralized bureaucracy bent on exerting excessive and undue influence in our daily lives.

Our founding fathers clearly understood the need to safeguard both our state and individual rights and liberties with our unique and brilliantly crafted Bill Of Rights.

It does not take a mental giant to recognize that we, the citizens, have slowly and subtly had so many of our original constitutional freedoms, liberties and rights stripped away by one federal act, regulation or ruling at a time over the course of the past 200-plus years. Neither Rep. Ballinger nor the Tea Party is guilty of some off -base, pick-and-choose interpretation of our republic’s foundational documents as you falsely claimed. They are just fighting one battle at a time to regain our intended independence.

Many more of us voting patriots out here in the real world sincerely appreciate rightful attempts like theirs much more than off -color liberal attacks like yours - as evidenced by the recent change in party control our own state Legislature, which is only natural.
