Garden Club

The Bella Vista Garden Club will meet Wednesday at the United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road Bella Vista. A social gathering will start at 11 a.m., followed by a meeting at 11:30 a.m. and then a light lunch.

Susan Jasan, landscaping designer, will be presenting “Drought Tolerant Landscaping Made Simple.” Club member Linda Neymeyer will present a floral design exhibit. There will also be a presentation on how to divide and pot plants from the spring garden.

President Janice Kennedy will talk about the spring plant sale to be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 20 and 27 at the Village Wastewater Plant and the spring sale which will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 4 at Tanyard Creek Pavilion. The proceeds help to provide money for the many charities supported by the club aswell as the annual Dorothy Wallace Scholarship given to a high school or college student.

The meeting is open to everyone interested in gardening; membership is not required.

Opera Guild

The Eureka Springs Opera Guild will hold its annual membership meeting at 3 p.m. today in the Conservatory of the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs.

There will be a brief meeting, refreshments and a vocal music performance.

Last season’s Opera in the Ozarks baritone Darren Drone will offer selections from this season’s operas, along with Ouachita Baptist University student soprano Caitlyn Secrest.

Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly”; Donizetti’s “The Elixir of Love”; and Gilbert & Sullivan’s “The Pirates of Penzance” will be performed at Inspiration Point on U.S.

62, 5 miles west of Eureka Springs. Opening night June 21 will be a performance of “Madama Butterfly.”

In addition to performances at Opera in the Ozarks, all three operas will be offered at the Arend Art Center in Bentonville on Sunday afternoons.

Opera Guild memberships are $10 annually. Members promote and support Opera in the Ozarks through many activities throughout the year and during the opera season. In addition to performing many functions supporting Opera in theOzarks, the members provide funds for scholarships for aspiring singers and musicians through membership fees, fundraising efforts and donations. Anyone who isinterested in opera, Opera in the Ozarks, vocal performance music or to learn about the functions of the guild is invited to attend.

Andante Club

The Bella Vista Andante Music Club will meet at 1 p.m. April 2 in the music room of First United Methodist Church. Sharon Golaway, pianist, will play several hymns written by John Newton, and Mary Shambarger will give a book review about John Newton. There will be group singing of the hymn “Amazing Grace.”

The club is affiliated with the National Federation of Music Clubs. Everyone is invited to attend the meetings.

Elks Lodge

The Rogers/Bentonville Elks Lodge will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Elks Lodge, 501 S. 40th St. in Rogers.

James Bright Chapter

The James Bright Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at 1 p.m. April 1 at the Old Train Depot, 412 W. Main St.

in Bentonville, across from the Bentonville Public Library. The program on 1800s dress will be presented by Martha Hutton.

Civil War Roundtable

The Northwest Arkansas Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the General Store at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in Springdale, 1108 W.

Johnson Ave.

The program will be given by members of the Washington County Historical Society, who will present a dramatic vignette telling the story of Judge Jonas Tebbetts and Fayetteville in the Civil War.

The meeting is open to the public and anyone with an interest in Civil War history is invited.

Kingsdale Squares

The Kingsdale Squares will dance from 7 to 9 p.m.
