Ministers plan parade for Jesus

EUREKA SPRINGS - The Western Carroll County Ministerial Association will host a “Celebrate Jesus” parade at 11:30 a.m. March 30. The parade will feature floats, walkers, clowns, Christian bikers and horses. The parade will travel along Spring Street, starting at the library and ending at the courthouse.

Music in Basin Park will start at 10 a.m. and will be performed by groups from local churches, including praise teams, bands and soloists.

An Easter sunrise service will be at 7 a.m. March 31 at the Christ of the Ozarks statue on the grounds of the Great Passion Play.

Goddess festival to welcome spring

FAYETTEVILLE - An interactive, intergenerational introduction to goddess consciousness will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Fayetteville, 901 W. Cleveland St. The program, “Calling the Directions: Altars for the Goddess,” will focus on the cycle of the seasons, with an emphasis on welcoming spring.

FORT SMITH - St. Scholastica Monastery’s Retreat Center, 1205 S. Albert Pike Ave., will offer a weekend retreat, “Sacred Pauses - Simple Rituals to Live Mindfully Through the Hours,” April 5-7. Sister Macrina Wiederkehr and Velma Frye will lead the program, which will include poetry, song, prayer and silence.

The theme of exploring the spirit of the hours will be drawn from Wiederkehr’s book Seven Sacred Pauses, with accompanying songs composed by Frye.
