Woman Accused of Burglary

FAYETTEVILLE - A homeless woman was arrested Saturday in connection with felony residential burglary and multiple misdemeanor charges.

Uli Spradlin, 35, was found by Cheryl Bufford, 63, in her home at 11757 Bunyard Road in Winslow about 11 p.m. Friday, according to a police report. The report stated Bufford had not given Spradlin permission to be in the house.

Bufford told police she smelled intoxicants on Spradlin’s breath and because Spradlin had her 4-year-old son with her she didn’t force Spradlin to leave because she was fearful for the boy’s safety if Spradlin decided to drive.

Bufford told police she noticed a hole in the wall near the fireplace, and Spradlin told her she wanted to retrieve her conch shell from the wall, had used a hammer to retrieve it and wanted to retrieve other items from the walls.

Officers responded to a call from Bufford on Saturday morning. Bufford explained former residents were to be moved out by 6 p.m. Friday and were not to return until 2 p.m. Saturday. The report did not specify if Spradlin was the previous owner.

Police found 5.4 grams of marijuana and a silver pipe with marijuana residue on Spradlin when they searched her before arresting her.

Department of Human Services officials administered a urine test and found that Spradlin was positive for THC. The boy was placed in protective custody.

Spradlin was being held Sunday in the Washington County Detention Center on $2,500 bond. She faces the felony residential burglary charge and misdemeanor criminal trespass, criminal mischief in the first degree, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
