Waste District Investigates Hundreds of Illegal Trash Complaints

Animals tore into several bags of trash filled with plastic soda bottles, frozen food boxes and foam food containers on the side of a Washington County road just north of Budd Kidd Lake, an environmental enforcement officer said Wednesday.
By the Numbers
Disposal prices at the Boston Mountain Solid Waste District transfer station west of Prairie Grove:
-Household trash $3 per bagged trash
-Truckload $48 per ton, plus tax; $10 minimum for loads up to 380 lbs.
-Electronics $5 per item such as TVs, VCRs, Microwaves
-Computer systems $5 each system (monitor, tower, accessories); $5 each additional monitor or tower
-Appliances $5 without refrigerant; $10 with refrigerant
-Furniture $5 plus tax per item
-Latex paint $1 per can, any size
-Oil-based paint $1 per pound plus $1 per can
-Fluorescent bulbs $1 each, any size
*No yard waste accepted at any time.
