Karzai alleges collusion between U.S., Taliban

KABUL — Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Sunday accused the Taliban and the U.S. of working in concert to convince Afghans that violence will worsen if foreign troops leave — an allegation the top American commander in Afghanistan rejected as “categorically false.”

Hagel: U.S. not working unilaterally with Taliban

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel met with Afghan President Hamid Karzai Sunday night. Hagel told reporters that he discussed all the key issues with the president. He also rejected any suggestions that the U.S. is in collusion with the Taliban. (By The Associated Press)
