Harding, Tech men get NCAA Division II bids

Great American Conference members Harding and Arkansas Tech both received at-large bids Sunday into the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship.

Ouachita Baptist, which defeated Tech 59-54 in the GAC Tournament final in Bartlesville, Okla., on Sunday, did not receive a bid.

Harding (21-9) lost 78-63 in the GAC semifinals on Saturday to OBU. The Bisons were ranked fourth in the latest Central Region poll. The Wonder Boys (18-11) were ranked 10th.

Twenty-two teams received automatic bids. Harding and Tech were among 42 to receive at-large berths.

Regional tournaments, consisting of eight teams each, will be held March 16, 17 and 19 at regional sites. The eight regional champions will advance to the quarterfinals at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky. The NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship will be held April 7 at Philips Arena in Atlanta.
