Bone-led A&M SEC champions

DULUTH, Ga. - Kelsey Bone had 18 points and 15 rebounds, with most of her production coming in the second half, and Texas A&M beat Kentucky 75-67 on Sunday night to win the Southeastern Conference tournament championship in its first year in the league.

The Aggies, the No. 4 seed, were the surprise of the tournament by beating the top two seeds in the tournament. No. 19 Texas A&M (24-9) beat top-seeded Tennessee in the semifinals before beating No. 2 seed Kentucky (27-5) in the final.

Kristi Bellock had 15 points and Courtney Walker had 14 for the Aggies.

In other women’s games Sunday where automatic NCAA berths were decided, freshman Alexis Jones scored a career-high 24 points and No. 6 Duke claimed its eighth Atlantic Coast Conference tournament title by routing No. 15 North Carolina 92-73 in the championship game In Greensboro, N.C. Elizabeth Williams also had 24 points and Haley Peters scored 17 for the top-seeded Blue Devils (30-2). … Tolu Omotola scored 16 points and top-seeded Liberty (27-6) gave the school a double dose of Big South championship celebrations with a 54-45 victory over Longwood in Conway, S.C. … Drey Mingo scored 24 points, and Purdue won its second consecutive Big Ten tournament championship, beating Michigan State 62-47 in Hoffman States, Ill. ... Amber Orrange capped a career-high 20-point performance scoring on a spinning drive with 8.3 seconds left, and No. 4 Stanford (31-2) won the Pacific-12 Conference tournament title rallying past No. 14 UCLA 51-49 in Seattle.
